Meet Our Team

Michael Johnson

Michael E. Johnson is the founder and CEO of Esenjay Petroleum Corporation. He has worked in oil and gas exploration for more than 40 years, concentrating on the Gulf Coast. Mr. Johnson worked with Atlantic Richfield Co. and Tana Oil and Gas before co-founding Esenjay Petroleum Corporation in 1977. At Esenjay, he has managed exploration activities, coordinated outside technical support and raised capital from industry partners. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southwestern Louisiana.  The success of Esenjay has allowed Mr. Johnson to invest in diverse businesses other than oil and gas. He is on the board and a significant owner of the following enterprises: Click here to read more.

Dale Alexander

Dale Alexander has been COO of Esenjay since 2006 and has more than 30 years’ experience in Gulf Coast oil and gas operations. He works with Esenjay’s team of industry experts, coordinating the engineering, geology and geophysics technical disciplines and managing the current reserve base to ensure optimization and profitability.  Mr. Alexander has been associated with Esenjay since 1984.  Prior to his COO appointment, Mr. Alexander was VP of Engineering at Esenjay. Before joining the company, he worked with Kamlock Production, Champlin Petroleum Corp. and Union Oil Company of California (in Louisiana). He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Texas and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Mr. Alexander holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas.

Howard Williams

Howard E. Williams is VP of Finance and Treasurer for Esenjay. Mr. Williams has managed the company’s finances since he joined the team in 1981. Prior to Esenjay, he was a CPA with Frazier and Torbet, Touche Ross and Co., and Flusche, Van Beveren, Williams & Kilgore. Mr. Williams holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Texas A&I University.

Linda Schibi

Linda D. Schibi has been VP of Land for Esenjay since 2002. She governs the Land Department including land owner and community relations as well as contracts and marketing for the company. Prior to her appointment as VP of Land, Ms. Schibi was VP, Marketing and Safety, as well as Land Manager. She has been with Esenjay for nearly 35 years. She is a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen and the Corpus Christi Association of Professional Landmen.

Rolf Woods

Rolf Woods is an Exploration Geologist specializing in South Texas shallow oil exploration. He began working with Esenjay in 2009. Mr. Woods has worked as a consulting geologist for more than 20 years. Prior to that, he worked with TXO and Chambers Oil & Gas. Mr. Woods started his career with Unocal, where he worked in California, Thailand and South Louisiana. He is a licensed Texas Professional Geologist with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Southern California.


Trusted Contractors

Eric Gardner has been consulting for Esenjay since 2005. He has more than 25 years of experience exploring for oil and gas in both domestic and international basins, specializing in the US Gulf Coast.  Mr. Gardner has worked for, or closely with, Esenjay since 1996. Prior to that, Mr. Gardner worked with Amoco Production Company, 3DX Technologies, Forest Oil and Santos USA, among others. He is a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the Houston Geological and Geophysical societies, among others. Mr. Gardner is a licensed Texas Geoscientist and holds an Engineering Physics degree from the Colorado School of Mines.

Samuel Cortez is a Field Operations Manager with more than 20 years’ experience in South Texas field operations management. He has worked with Esenjay since1998 and is a consultant for SRM Consulting Inc. Prior to that, he worked with Royal Oil & Gas, Waters Engineering, and R. W. Dirks Engineering. Mr. Cortez holds an Associate’s Degree in Petroleum Technology from Kilgore Junior College.

Bowen “Bo” W. Waters is a Petroleum Engineer with more than 35 years’ experience in the industry. A consultant from Firststrike Energy Corporation, Mr. Waters has worked with Esenjay since 2004. Prior to that, he worked with BNP Petroleum Corp, Waters Engineering & Operating, Inc. and Tana Oil & Gas Corp. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the American Petroleum Institute and Oilfield Christian Fellowship. Mr. Waters holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas.

Ross C. Ford Jr. is a Petroleum Engineer with nearly 40 years’ experience in the industry. He is President and owner of Rincon Petroleum Corporation, an independent exploration, production and operating company. Mr. Ford is a consultant for Esenjay and has worked with the company since 1979. Prior to that, he worked for Atlantic Richfield Company. Mr. Ford holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas.
